The best face symmetry apps, and what they show

Beautify, LooxUP, BeautyScan, UCHAD, PSL and Maxxing all include facial symmetry in a selfie analysis. Perfect symmetry is rare, so treat any symmetry score as one rough reading.

Beautify is our app, so weigh our take accordingly; every competitor fact below comes from that app’s own App Store listing or website, checked in October 2026. We did not test how well any app measures symmetry and report no test results. This list covers what each app says it does with symmetry, where it runs and how it charges.

What is facial symmetry?

Facial symmetry is how closely the left and right halves of your face mirror each other across an imaginary vertical line down the middle. Software can estimate it by locating points such as the corners of the eyes, the edges of the nose and the corners of the mouth, then comparing their positions on each side.

Is a perfectly symmetrical face normal?

No, perfect symmetry is rare, and some asymmetry is normal. A 2021 study in the Journal of Dentistry (Shiraz) by Zamanian and Jafari-Naeimi, on how people perceive facial asymmetry, notes that “each person’s face naturally has various degrees of asymmetry.” Small differences between your eyes, brows or the sides of your mouth are part of an ordinary face. A symmetry score is not a health check: if you notice a sudden change in how your face looks, talk to a doctor rather than an app.

Why does a symmetry score change between photos?

A symmetry score compares two sides of one photo, so anything that makes one side look different changes the score. A slight head turn or tilt, light falling from one side, a lopsided smile, or hair covering one cheek can all shift it. Camera distance matters too: a Rutgers and Stanford model published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery found that a selfie taken about 12 inches away makes the nasal base look about 30 percent wider than a photo from 5 feet, according to the Rutgers announcement. For steadier results, face the camera straight on, keep your head level, use even light from the front and keep your expression neutral. Our guide are face rating apps accurate? covers more.

What should you look for in a face symmetry app?

Look for an app that shows symmetry in context and is clear about what you pay for. We compared apps on:

  • Whether symmetry is named: a stated symmetry score or analysis, not just a single overall number.
  • Context: other scores, face shape or tips that make the symmetry result useful.
  • Pricing model: what is free and what needs a subscription.
  • Platforms: iPhone, iPad or Android.

1. Beautify - Glow Up

Best for: seeing your symmetry score in context rather than on its own. Facial Symmetry is one of eight scores out of 100, next to Overall, Potential, Skin Quality, Eyes, Nose, Lips and Cheekbones, so one number does not stand in for your whole face. The same scan shows your face shape, eye shape and skin type with tips, plus a step-by-step Glow Up Guide. It has 4.4 stars from 1,100+ ratings on the US App Store (October 2026).

Limitation: you get one analysis scan per subscription week, so comparing photos taken different ways needs extra scans, which are a one-off Superboost purchase. Results need Beautify Premium, a weekly subscription, and the app is iPhone only.

2. LooxUP (LooksMax Face Rating AI)

Best for: a looks rater that puts symmetry front and center. Its subtitle is “Looks Rater, Symmetry Analyzer”, and the listing says it analyzes “your face shape, facial features, proportions, skin tone, and more”, with recommendations on skin care, hairstyle, clothing and accessories. Subscribers get a “complete history of all requests”, which helps if you want to look back at past results. It is iPhone only, sold as weekly or monthly plans.

3. BeautyScan - AI Beauty Scanner

Best for: golden-ratio analysis with a visual overlay. Its subtitle is “Golden Ratio Face Analysis”, and it lists a “Face Attractiveness Score” and a “Golden Ratio Mask”. The listing speaks to people “curious about your facial symmetry”, and adds extras such as “Face Reading”, “Face Comparison” and “Celebrity Look-Alike”. It runs on iPhone and iPad, with weekly, monthly or yearly plans or a one-time payment.

4. UCHAD: See Your Potential

Best for: symmetry as part of a detailed breakdown with progress tracking. UCHAD lists a Premium “Feature-level breakdown: jawline, eyes, skin, hair, symmetry”, while “Basic analysis & insights” are free. It also offers an “AI Coach” and “Daily Progress Tracking”. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android.

5. PSL - Looksmax & Ascend

Best for: a weekly scan that rates symmetry alongside other traits. PSL’s “Weekly PSL Face Scan” gives “ratings on symmetry, jawline, skin quality, facial harmony”, tied to a looksmaxxing routine and AI coaching. Its listing is framed around dating. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, with weekly to yearly or lifetime plans and one-time scans.

6. Maxxing: LooksMaxxing Glow Up

Best for: symmetry inside a wider facial analysis. Maxxing’s “Detailed Facial Analysis” covers “from symmetry to skin health”, alongside an “Attractiveness Score” and a “Custom Glow-Up Routine”. Its pitch is not gendered. It runs on iPhone and Android, with weekly or yearly plans plus one-off extras.

Bottom line: which face symmetry app should you use?

Pick the app whose extras you will actually use, because none of these apps has published evidence that its symmetry reading is more precise than another’s. Beautify (our app) shows symmetry as one of eight scores with your face shape and a plan; LooxUP and BeautyScan put symmetry and golden-ratio analysis up front; UCHAD, PSL and Maxxing fold it into looksmaxxing-style breakdowns. Whichever you choose, remember that some asymmetry is normal and a symmetry score is a reading of one photo, not a judgment of you. Questions people ask

What is the best face symmetry app?

Several apps include symmetry in their analysis: Beautify (our app) gives a Facial Symmetry score out of 100 next to seven other scores, LooxUP calls itself a 'Symmetry Analyzer', and BeautyScan focuses on golden-ratio analysis.

Is it normal for a face to be asymmetrical?

Yes. A 2021 study in the Journal of Dentistry (Shiraz) notes that 'each person's face naturally has various degrees of asymmetry.' A perfectly symmetrical face is rare.

Why does my symmetry score change between photos?

A symmetry score compares the two sides of your face in one photo, so a slight head tilt, uneven light, a close-up lens or a lopsided expression can change it even when your face has not changed.

Is there a face symmetry app for iPhone?

Yes. Beautify, LooxUP, BeautyScan, UCHAD, PSL and Maxxing all run on iPhone. UCHAD, PSL and Maxxing are also on Android.
