Beautify is our app, so weigh our take accordingly; every competitor fact below comes from that app’s own App Store listing or website, checked in October 2026, and nothing here comes from hands-on testing. Hairstyle apps do one of two jobs: they recommend cuts that suit your face shape, or they show a hairstyle on your own photo (virtual try-on). A few do both. Beautify does the first job only, and we say so plainly below.
How did we choose these apps?
We picked iPhone apps whose own listing says they either suggest hairstyles for your face shape or let you try hairstyles on a photo.
- Face shape link. Apps that connect hairstyles to face shape rank higher than plain filters.
- Women’s styles. Every app here lists long, short and layered cuts, not only men’s styles.
- Clear pricing model. We describe how each app charges in words (subscription, one-off packs, ads).
- Honest scope. We say which apps offer try-on and which only give suggestions.
Which hairstyle apps are best for women?
Pick a recommendation app to learn what suits you, and a try-on app to preview a specific cut before your appointment.

1. Beautify - Glow Up: best for knowing which cuts suit your face shape
Beautify tells you your face shape and then suggests hairstyles for it, and its Glow Up Guide turns that into a step-by-step hairstyle makeover.
- What it does: one selfie returns your face shape (oval, round, square, heart or oblong), eye shape and skin type. The face shape result opens a page with hairstyles and makeup tips for that shape, and the Glow Up Guide includes a hairstyle makeover section alongside skincare, fitness, sleep and nutrition.
- Platforms: iPhone only (iOS 13 or later), English only.
- Pricing model: free to download; results need Beautify Premium, a weekly subscription, with one scan per week.
- Rating: 4.4 stars from 1,100+ ratings (US, October 2026).
- Limitation: Beautify does not do virtual hairstyle try-on, so you read the suggestions but cannot see a cut on your own photo. Pair it with one of the try-on apps below if that matters to you.
2. Hiface - Face Shape Finder: best for face shape plus try-on
Hiface detects your face shape and then lets you try hairstyles virtually, which makes it the closest single app to doing both jobs.
- What it says it does: “try out different hairstyles based on your face shape”, with suggestions for “hairstyles, beards, glasses, or makeup” and a “Style AI” assistant.
- Platforms: iPhone only on the App Store; Android on Google Play.
- Pricing model: free to download with weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions listed, plus one-off analysis credits.
3. YouCam Makeup: best for a large library of preset hairstyles
YouCam Makeup offers hairstyle and hair color try-on inside a full beauty photo editor.
- What it says it does: “AI Hairstyle: Try on 250+ preset hairstyles from short and long cuts to wavy styles and bangs”, “Custom Hair Try On” from reference photos, and a “Hair Color Changer”. Perfect Corp’s own blog says the app identifies face shape.
- Platforms: iPhone and iPad; Android.
- Pricing model: free to download; a subscription unlocks premium content.
- Rating: 4.7 stars from about 155,000 ratings (US, October 2026).
4. Glowify - AI Hairstyle Try On: best for AI hair and color previews
Glowify is an AI photo editor focused on hairstyles and hair color, with face shape suggestions built in.
- What it says it does: “Smart AI Face Shape & Seasonal Color Analysis” that leads to “personalized hairstyle, color, and makeup suggestions”, plus try-on for haircuts, hair colors and makeup looks.
- Platforms: iPhone and iPad.
- Pricing model: free to download, contains ads; weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions.
- Rating: 4.7 stars from about 12,300 ratings (US, October 2026).
5. Perfect Hairstyle and Hair Cut: best for trying cuts and bangs without a subscription
Perfect Hairstyle and Hair Cut lets you try haircuts, bangs and colors on your photo, with a set of free styles.
- What it says it does: “More than fifty hairstyles for free”, a “Bangs Filter”, hair color filters and “Understand what suits your face shape”. Its developer also makes Find Your Face Shape, a separate face shape scanner.
- Platforms: iPhone and iPad.
- Pricing model: free with ads; one-off packs for more hairstyles.
6. Hairstyle Try On (KBMSoft): best for a simple, long-running try-on app
Hairstyle Try On has been on the App Store since 2008 and works on one-off style packs rather than a subscription.
- What it says it does: “33 free hairstyles in various lengths”, packages with “more than 750 hairstyles in total”, “More than 50 different hair color options” and “Understand what suits your face shape”.
- Platforms: iPhone only.
- Pricing model: free to download; one-off style packages.
Which hairstyles suit each face shape?
The common stylist rule is to choose a cut that balances your face’s widest and narrowest points.
- Oval: most lengths and partings work, so choose for your hair texture.
- Round: long layers, side parts and a little height at the crown add length.
- Square: soft layers, waves and side-swept bangs soften a strong jaw.
- Heart: chin-length bobs and volume near the jaw balance a wider forehead.
- Oblong: bangs and volume at the sides make a longer face look more even.
- Diamond: side-swept fringes and chin-length cuts balance wider cheekbones.

Bottom line: which hairstyle app should you use?
Use Beautify if you want to know which cuts suit your face shape as part of a wider glow-up plan, and accept that it will not show the cut on your photo. Use Hiface if you want detection and try-on in one app, YouCam Makeup or Glowify for a larger try-on library, and Perfect Hairstyle or Hairstyle Try On if you prefer one-off packs to a subscription. Whatever you choose, take a screenshot of the look to your stylist and ask how it will work with your hair texture.
