Facial analysis
AI facial analysis, from one selfie
Beautify’s AI facial analysis reads one selfie and returns scores out of 100 for facial symmetry, skin quality, eyes, nose, lips and cheekbones, identifies your face shape and eye shape and shows your skin type. It then turns the results into hairstyle, makeup and skincare suggestions.

What does a facial analysis look at?
A facial analysis looks at the parts of your face separately and together. Beautify scores six areas (skin quality, facial symmetry, eyes, nose, lips and cheekbones), combines them into an overall score with a potential score next to it, and classifies your face shape and eye shape. Your skin type sits alongside them because it changes which routine and makeup tips make sense.
What is facial symmetry, and does it matter?
Facial symmetry is how closely the left and right sides of your face mirror each other. No real face is perfectly symmetrical: small differences in brow height, eye size or smile are normal and are part of what makes a face recognizable. Lighting and head tilt can exaggerate asymmetry in a photo, so take your selfie straight on.
Is the golden ratio a real measure of beauty?
The golden ratio (about 1.618) is a popular idea for facial proportions, but research has not shown that one ratio defines an attractive face, and preferences vary between people and cultures. Proportions are one input among many, which is why Beautify scores features separately instead of giving a single ratio.
How is this different from a face shape quiz?
A face shape quiz asks you to judge your own measurements. A facial analysis app works from a photo, so you do not need a tape measure, and it adds feature scores, eye shape and skin type in the same scan. You can still check your result against the face shape guide.
Questions
Questions people ask
What is the best app for facial analysis on iPhone?
It depends on what you want. Beautify combines beauty scores, face shape, eye shape and skin type with a glow-up guide and makeup tutorials in one iPhone app. Our comparison of face rating apps covers the alternatives.
Can AI analyze your face shape?
Yes. Beautify identifies your face shape from a selfie as oval, round, square, heart or oblong, then links to hairstyles, makeup placement and glasses that suit it.
How symmetrical is the average face?
No face is perfectly symmetrical. Small differences between the two sides are normal, and how symmetrical a face looks in a photo also depends on angle, lighting and expression.
Is facial analysis safe?
Beautify uses your photo for the analysis and keeps it with your scan so you can see past results. You can delete scans or your account in the app, and the privacy policy explains how photos are handled.
