Beautify is our app, so weigh our take accordingly; every competitor fact below comes from that app’s own App Store listing or website, checked in October 2026, and nothing here comes from hands-on testing. Beautify’s fit for this list is partial: it gives you a Skin Quality score and a skin type with routines, not a detailed map of skin concerns. Nothing on this page is medical advice, and no app here diagnoses skin conditions.
How did we choose these apps?
We included iPhone apps whose own listing says they analyze your skin from a photo, then compared what each one returns.
- Skin analysis on the listing. The app must say it scans or analyzes skin, not only retouch it.
- Useful output. Routines, product guidance or progress tracking count for more than a single label.
- Clear limits. We note each app’s own disclaimer where it has one.
- Clear pricing model. We describe how each app charges in words.
We left out YouCam Makeup: its App Store listing describes skin retouching (“Skin Smoother”), not skin analysis.

1. Beautify - Glow Up: best for skin as part of a full face analysis
Beautify suits you if you want your skin type alongside your face shape, eye shape and beauty scores from one selfie, rather than a skin-only tool.
- What it does: one of its eight scores out of 100 is Skin Quality. The Your Characteristics page shows your skin type, which opens a page with routines for that type, and the Glow Up Guide includes a skincare routine section.
- Platforms: iPhone only (iOS 13 or later), English only.
- Pricing model: free to download; results need Beautify Premium, a weekly subscription, with one scan per week.
- Rating: 4.4 stars from 1,100+ ratings (US, October 2026).
- Limitation: it does not map specific concerns such as acne or redness, scan products or chart skin progress. If skin is your only goal, a dedicated app below goes further.
Read more about each type in our skin type guide.
2. Skan: best for visible skin concerns and progress tracking
Skan is a dedicated skincare app that scans a selfie for visible concerns and tracks how they change.
- What it says it does: “Take a selfie to understand visible skin concerns like acne, redness, pores, pigmentation, wrinkles, eye bags”, plus a product finder, product scanner, routine builder, ingredient insights and “Save skin scans and compare your progress over time”. Its listing states “Skan is not a medical device”.
- Platforms: iPhone only on the App Store; Android on Google Play.
- Pricing model: free to download with weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions.
- Rating: 4.8 stars from about 9,800 ratings (US, October 2026).
3. Glow - AI Skin Scanner: best for skin category scores and routines
Glow - AI Skin Scanner (by Dent Labs, not to be confused with Glow - AI Beauty Coach) gives scores by skin category and builds a routine from them.
- What it says it does: “scores across multiple skin categories, including hydration, texture, and more”, “step-by-step regimens”, product recommendations, “Daily Progress Tracking” and “before-and-after comparisons”. It says it “does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations”.
- Platforms: iPhone and iPad.
- Pricing model: free to download with in-app purchases, including an annual option.
- Note: last updated September 2025 on the App Store.
4. Lovi - AI Skin Care Scanner: best for pairing a scan with ingredient checks
Lovi combines a face scanner with product and ingredient research.
- What it says it does: an “Advanced Face Scanner” to “Monitor your skin’s progress”, a “Smart Ingredient Scanner” for packaging and barcodes, a database of “over 500K products”, a skincare assistant and face yoga videos.
- Platforms: iPhone only.
- Pricing model: free to download with weekly, monthly, three-month and yearly memberships.
5. Mary Kay Skin Analyzer: best if you already shop with a Mary Kay consultant
Mary Kay Skin Analyzer is a brand tool that highlights signs of aging and recommends that brand’s products.

- Note: last updated September 2025 on the App Store.
6. Glow - AI Beauty Coach: best for a skin glow-up with a chat coach
Glow - AI Beauty Coach scans your face toward a “skin glow up” and adds a chat coach.
- What it says it does: “Scan your face for AI analysis”, “Personalized product recommendations”, “Beauty routines and hacks” and a “24/7 AI beauty coach chat”. Its listing states “ANALYSIS REQUIRES SUBSCRIPTION”.
- Platforms: iPhone and iPad.
- Pricing model: free to download; analysis needs a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription.
When should you see a dermatologist instead of using an app?
See a dermatologist, not an app, for any skin concern that is painful, spreading, bleeding, not improving or changing, including a mole or spot that looks different from before. Skin analysis apps describe what a camera sees in one photo, and lighting, makeup and camera quality all affect that photo. They are useful for building a routine and noticing patterns, and several of them say on their own listings that they are not medical advice. A dermatologist can examine your skin in person and recommend treatment, which no app here claims to do.
Bottom line: which skin analysis app should you choose?
Choose Skan, Lovi or Glow - AI Skin Scanner if skin is your main focus and you want concern-level detail or progress tracking. Choose Beautify if you want your skin type and a Skin Quality score as part of a broader look at your face shape, eye shape and glow-up plan, knowing its skin detail is lighter.
